Landscape design and installation process in Johannesburg

How  We  Work  —  From  First  Call  to  Finished  Garden

We believe the process of creating a beautiful garden should be as enjoyable as the result. Clear communication, no unpleasant surprises, and personal attention at every single step.

The Process

The Process, Step by Step

From your first enquiry to the day we hand over your completed outdoor space.

Initial Enquiry

You get in touch. Call us, send an email, or complete the consultation request form on our website. Tell us a little about your project — what you're hoping to achieve, the type of property, and roughly when you'd like to get started. We'll respond promptly and arrange a convenient time for a site visit.

Site Consultation

We come to you. The owner visits your property in person to see the space, listen carefully to your vision, and ask the right questions. We assess the site — existing conditions, aspect, soil type, levels, drainage, and any constraints — whilst building a clear picture of what you want from the space.

Bespoke Design & Proposal

We develop your design. Based on the site visit and your brief, we create a bespoke design tailored specifically to your property, your vision, and your budget. Your proposal includes the design concept, a full scope of work, the materials to be used, a detailed cost breakdown, and a project timeline.

Installation

Our team gets to work. Once the design is approved and the project is scheduled, our experienced installation team begins on site. The owner is personally present and involved throughout the installation — not just at the start and end, but every day.

Completion & Handover

We hand over your garden. Once installation is complete and we are satisfied that every element meets our standard, we do a final walkthrough together with you. We point out everything you need to know about your new garden and consider the project complete only when you're genuinely happy with the result.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

The process involves five stages: initial enquiry, site consultation, bespoke design and proposal, installation, and completion with handover. The owner is personally involved at every stage — from the initial site visit right through to walking you through your finished garden.

The timeline varies significantly depending on the size and complexity of the project, material availability, and scheduling. A smaller residential installation may be completed within a few weeks of the initial consultation, whilst a larger or more complex project will take longer. We always provide a realistic, detailed timeline in the project proposal.

Please contact us directly to discuss this — arrangements may vary depending on the scale and location of the proposed project.

Adjustments at the design stage are a normal and expected part of the process. We refine the design until you are completely satisfied before any installation work begins. Changes requested during installation are more complex and may affect cost and timeline, which is why we invest the time in getting the design exactly right before we start.

You deal directly with the owner throughout your entire project. Living Green Landscapes is owner-managed at every level — there is no account manager or project coordinator between you and the person responsible for your garden.

You don't need to be present throughout the installation, but you are always welcome. We communicate regularly, flag any decisions that need your input, and keep you updated on progress.

We don't consider a project complete until you're satisfied with every aspect of the result. If something isn't right at the final walkthrough, we discuss it and address it before we consider the job done.
